Max Lowe and Dominic Iorfa could both step up from the bench and into the starting line-up as Wednesday take on Watford at Vicarage Road on Tuesday evening.
Both players were unused subs in the abandoned game at Blackburn on Saturday, Lowe returning from injury and Iorfa back in contention after suspension, and Henrik Pedersen may decide to shuffle his small squad, particularly with the busy Christmas period fast approaching.
Long-term injury casualty Nathaniel Chalobah could return to the matchday squad but loanee Nathan Redmond is ruled out with a groin injury.
Wednesday, marooned at the foot of the Championship and 28 points from safety, continue our search for a first win in what will be 13 league games while Watford sit in mid-table but only three points from the play-offs in the congested division.
Commenting on the abandoned game at Blackburn played in a constant downpour, Pedersen said: “From a health perspective and football perspective it was the right solution. Even from the mid-point onwards in the first half you could start to see there was trouble for the ball to roll.
“We would love to have played the game to its end, our boys have trained so well with so many things going on around us but this is something we could not influence.”
