Wednesday went down 3-0 in the derby clash against Sheff U at Hillsborough today.

Not for the first time this season, the understandable gap between our threadbare squad and the opposition was once again apparent and, apart from the first few minutes, we rarely looked like troubling the visitors.

We made life even harder for ourselves when we yet again conceded an early goal, Yan Valery getting dispossessed 25 yards from goal on 11 minutes and the resulting move saw Tyreese Campbell converting across Ethan Horvath from inside the box.

It was almost two five minutes later when Dominic Iorfa’s wayward backpass went to Danny Ings but Horvath came to the rescue with a blocked save.

Ings had another effort ruled out for offside and the fact that, after the first three minutes we failed to get a touch inside their penalty area in the first half, illustrated out lack of threat.

We then got off to the second half in just the wrong way, conceding another goal on 48 minutes with Campbell breaking clear to net.

Wednesday rallied briefly midway through the second period but failed to get an effort on target during the entire game and, after Horvath saved from Tom Cannon and Patrick Bamford, Cannon completed the scoring in added time with a deflected effort from the edge of the box.

With our 12-point deduction, we remain on minus four points at the foot of the Championship and 18 points from safety.
