Henrik Pedersen was left feeling a mixture of pride and disappointment after seeing his Wednesday side concede a late, late equaliser at Watford on Tuesday evening.

The head coach said following the 1-1 draw: “I’m very proud, I think the players gave everything they could.

“On one side I am proud, but I am also disappointed because it was so close but we don’t make it to the finish.

“We invested so much, so of course we have mixed feelings. We are very sad for the result.

“We were competitive at a high level against a strong Watford team away from home, and this is very positive. We have to learn to make the games done but first, we have to be proud of the good things.

“The boys played with belief, discipline and togetherness.”

He added: “The players are disappointed but that’s because we want the best for our club.

“I also know that they are proud of the performance today, so now we rest and go again.”

Skipper Barry Bannan was subbed at half time as he was suffering from a groin injury and Pedersen said he will be monitored ahead of next Monday’s home game against Derby.
