Henrik Pedersen praised the fans after an afternoon when ‘we got our Wednesday back’ at Hillsborough.
Twenty four hours after the exit of owner Dejphon Chansiri, the supporters flocked back to S6 – 27,000 of them – creating a great atmosphere as we chased a first home league win of the season.
Unfortunately, despite great backing from the stands, we went down 2-1 to Oxford but head coach Pedersen heaped praise on the supporters.
He told swfc.co.uk: “Before I talk about the game and the result, I must talk about the fans, they were fantastic.
“We asked them to come out in their numbers and, wow, this they did and the atmosphere was amazing.
“From all of us, we say a big, big thank you.
“They gave us something special and while I am disappointed we did not give them the points, I hope they can see that the boys are giving absolutely everything.
“In the second half, we were so much on top, we got the early goal but we could not quite get the second.”
