Henrik Pedersen was delighted with Wednesday’s second-half comeback in a 2-2 draw at Wrexham this afternoon.

Trailing 2-0 at the interval we hit back with goals from Barry Bannan and Bailey Cadamarteri to level matters and Charlie McNeill had a great chance to clinch victory with the last kick of the match but his shot was blocked by home keeper Danny Ward.

Pedersen felt it was an equal first 45 minutes, despite the scoreline, but a half-time dressing room talk and change of formation did the trick in terms of getting a result, the Wednesday boss saying: “At the break, we changed formation and we spoke about having the belief to go out in the second half and play with a back four.

“We spoke about the discipline and the courage needed in the second half, and it was a brilliant performance from the boys. I’m really proud.

“Second half we had nearly 60 per cent possession and many more shots and chances. So, I think a draw was more than deserved and if there was a winner today it should have been us.”

Wednesday went behind on 15 minutes when we failed to clear from a free kick into the penalty area and Kieffer Moore turned home the loose ball.

Moore headed over soon afterwards while our first effort came on 25 minutes when Charlie McNeill’s shot from just inside the box was deflected wide.

However, Wrexham doubled their lead on the half hour when loanee keeper Ethan Horvath parried a long-ranger from George Dobson not too convincingly and Moore was there again to turn in the rebound.

Wednesday couldn’t cope with the threat of Moore and he almost made it three shortly before half time, Max Lowe managing to clear his header off the line.

Then, in added time, Olaf Kobacki missed a great chance to put us back in the game, heading over from close range when he should have at least found the target.

We began the second half in far more determined fashion with Ike Ugbo missing with a headed chance that came off his shoulder and then firing too close to Ward from ten yards.

However, we were back in the match just after the hour when McNeill’s low cross from the right deflected to Bannan and he drove home from eight yards.

Then, nine minutes from time we got the equaliser we deserved as another low McNeill centre into the penalty area was swept home first time by Cadamarteri.

Wednesday looked to be the only winner at this stage and it almost came with the last kick of the game. We hit Wrexham on the break with sub Sean Fusire picking out McNeill in the box but his shot was too close to Ward and the chance to round off our excellent fightback with three points, rather than one, was gone.
