Wednesday have signed striker Ali Al-Hamadi on a season-long loan from Premier League Ipswich.

The 24-year-old joined the Tractor Boys after hitting 18 goals in 23 games for AFC Wimbledon in the 2023-24 season. He has made 24 appearances for Ipswich so far, scoring four goals, and has also had loan spells with Stoke and Luton.

After Wednesday confirmed the deal, the player said: “What people are getting is a really hungry Ali at this moment.

“I’m feeling the best I’ve felt physically and mentally for a long time. You can expect someone who gives their all and wears his heart on their sleeve.

“I was impressed by the manager’s attention to detail, his human nature of how he gets you as a person. That’s part of it sometimes, just having a good connection with the manager.

“I’ve always had a good relationship with fans, I’m someone who gets it and tries to buy into the team and the culture of the club, that’s the sort of person I am.

“I’m honestly really, really delighted to be here. You can’t pass up an opportunity to play for a club like this. It seems in a really good place from top to bottom, so a perfect time.”

Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, said: “Ali is an exciting, athletic forward whose aggressive pressing and ability to run in behind will add another dimension to the team.”

On the international front, Al-Hamadi has earned 21 caps for Iraq, scoring five goals, and featured in this summer’s World Cup.
