Wednesday have snapped up young Aston Villa defender Sil Swinkels on a three-year contract and for an undisclosed fee.
The 22-year-old Dutch centre back joined Villa in 2020 and has had several loan spells in the EFL in recent seasons.
He said of the move to Hillsborough: “The project brought me here. The people here made me feel like it’s a long-term vision and that’s something I want to be a part of. We all know the ambition and where the club want to go.
“At a club like Sheffield Wednesday, it’s natural that you’re going to have competition for places – it’s a healthy environment and I’m looking forward to it. I’m very happy to get this over the line.”
Sporting Director, Simon Wilson, said: “Sil is a player we are excited to bring to Sheffield Wednesday. He gives us natural balance as a left-footed, left-sided central defender, alongside strong physical attributes and the ability to progress the ball effectively.”
Meanwhile, striker Olaf Kobacki has returned to Poland after two years with Wednesday.
